Artist's Statement

I was raised in a rural Pennsylvania community where the "image" is rejected, replaced by the power of word and deed. Through travel and study, I have embraced the image as a catalyst for artistic expression. My desire is to produce work that is more than pigment on canvas, but a deep expression of beauty, memory, and hope. Recently, I have been fascinated by the classic quilts from my heritage which have inspired a construction of figurative landscapes in the cubist manner. The colors and form provide an architecture where abstraction and realism can flourish at will and in harmony with one another. It's my hope that through my work I can show viewers a pure and true look at the things and the places I love.
